Our philosophy

At Nicholson Vineyards we produce limited releases of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from our estate vineyards, as well as other noted varietals. Our wines are elegant and approachable, classic in style, and representative of each individual vineyards’ terroir.  Less is best. We love the expression of true fruit in our wines.

We are very lucky to work with winemaker, Ellie Loustalot. She has a plethora of winemaking experience on the Central Coast, a great understanding of the Santa Cruz Mountain appellation, and dedication to detail and execution in our cellar.  We love her enthusiasm for working directly with our growers and among our vines. She is a crucial member of our Nicholson Vineyards team.  If you happen to see her around the winery, don’t hesitate to say hello!

Where tradition meets terroir

At nearly 700 feet in elevation, our vines enjoy the best of the appellation’s climate.  From blankets of early morning fog, to sunny afternoons and cool evenings, our dramatic temperature swing creates wonderfully complex fruit.

Our estate vineyards consist of 3 blocks.  The Chardonnay is located on the west side of the property and is planted where apples grew for nearly 100 years.  The Brooks Block Pinot Noir, named after our son, includes both Pommard and Dijon clones and is adjacent to the tasting room. The Three Sisters Pinot Noir, named for our daughters, is our smallest lot and 100% Dijon clone.

We work hard to maintain balance and harmony in the vineyards. It is a priority for us to respect the land through sustainable and organic farming practices.  As a result, we produce high quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that represent the unique microclimate of our small Corralitos region in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Come wine taste by the vines! Our tasting room is surrounded by our vineyards and groves.
