Nicholson Vineyards extra virgin olive oil is a wonderful cuvee, created from the olives of our estates five Tuscan varietals. Our four acre grove, planted in 2005, is adjacent to the winery and vineyard. Planted in the traditional Mediterranean style, the trees have room to spread and grow horizontally. As with our estate grapes, the grove thrives in our coastal microclimate.
The fruit is hand-picked in late November and immediately milled off site, using a cold press process. The handcrafted oil is natural, with no filtering or fining. The results are amazing, with flavors that are pure and robust, and a finish that is surprisingly smooth and peppery.
Olive oil tasting is available at the winery in December (if oil supply permits). Oil availability is very limited and our annual production sells out quickly. It is currently sold out. 2012 olive oil will be available in mid-December. Prices range from $18 to $28.
